hello, foodies!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself – My name is Nadia Parekh, I’m currently based in Dubai running a home-based catering company called Mélange. It is my life! My baby. I love it to bits and am, admittedly, quite crazy, meticulous and obsessive about it! I love everything about food, right from the process of selecting the ingredients, to putting your creative process to work, and not only seeing, but tasting the end result! What could be better, right?!

Cooking and baking has always been a hobby while I was growing up in this charming little (not-so-little-anymore) sandbox! That’s right, raised in Dubai I was able to witness, first-hand, the crazy transformation this city has gone through! But what I find far more interesting has been the development of Dubai’s cutting edge restaurant scene.

I left for Montreal, Canada to pursue a career in Neuroscience. I graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor in Science, and throughout my 4 years abroad, I continued to develop my culinary adventures. Having my own kitchen was a lot of fun (for both my roommates, and I). I was known to be the one who would cook up a storm when I was stressed, happy or just plain bored.  Although I absolutely love the field of Psychology and always will, I decided to take a gap year after I graduated and headed off to Le Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts in London, England. And so. My fate was sealed.

After I graduated with the Grand Diplome (which includes both Pastry and Cuisine) – I decided to specialize in Pastry, interning at William Curley’s chocolatier and Sheraton on Park Lane before moving back home to Dubai to pursue my first real job as a chef at Fairmont the Palm as part of the pre-opening team. I continued to work there for 2 years before I resigned to start my own business. Which is what brings me here today, I am indeed very excited to venture into the blogosphere – and I’m very grateful to everyone for all the continued love and support!
